Review: Hugo, A true ode to the history of cinema

Let me start of by saying that Hugo isn't for everyone. If you are a mindless idiot who loves to see things blow up, then by all means go see the Phantom Menace in 3D and let your brain cells rot away! But for those of us who love the art that is cinema and the beautifull directing by Martin Scorsese, this is your movie!

Hugo is an orphan who lives alone in the railway station of Paris after the unfortunated death of his father. He inspects and repairs the clocks. He also tries to fix a mechanical robot called an automotan. This robot was found by his father in the museum where he worked. The robot doesn't work anymore and he and Hugo where trying to fix it. I won't go into detail about the plot because I will spoil some things, but it's a true adventure and as the story unfolds you want to see what's going to happen next and how it will all play out.

The acting is fantastic, especially for actors this young. Hugo played by Asa butterfield does a great job to set Hugo as a emotional and friendly character. He is a thief but you do care for him. His love interest and best friend Isabella is played by Chloë Grace Mortez (Seriously, who gives her kid such a long name?) and delivers a fantastic job. I can't feel different than to think that she is Hermoine Ginger. And together with a fantastic supporting crew like Sacha Baron Cohen and Christopher fucking Lee you just
Can't go wrong.

The movie is true ode to the art of filmmaking and anyone who works with film or independent film makers will love this movie. Hugo and Isabella go trough the history of cinema, from arrivée d'un train à parreche to safety last they show them on screen andI found it to be amazing to see these scene's on screen.

I also have to mention the 3D. Now I'm normally against 3D. It is:
A) Converted piece of crap (star wars ep.1)
B) So good the movie experience is amazing.
And thankfully Hugo is B++. I haven't seen avatar. But this is by far the best 3D I have seen in the theater so far. There is a scene where a inspecters bents over to the camera and it feels like he is breathing in your neck. Amazing.

This movie is a masterpiece of cinema. It tributes the movies long forgotten by todays audiences and makes a fantastic story out of this. If you love movies this is a must and you have to see this movie, especially in 3D!

This movie gets Wreviews stamp of awesomeness! Go see this movie!

Annoyed by gamers

I love games.
There I said it. I love to play video games and enjoy the magic that went into making these works of fantasy. There are some games that are truly masterpieces, for me there is one series that defines the gaming genre. The legend of Zelda is my favourite game series of all time. Nothing can hold me back from praising this game enough. It's a series that get's (mostly) beter each installment and is a genre that will always stay in my mind. But there's one thing I hate. Gamers who call themself gamers and download everything for free.

Don't get me wrong, I love to play games. And yes sometimes prices are outrages. But think of all the time, effort and thought that went into making a game. I respect developers and encourage them to make other great games, but getting into the public is hard. Indie developers are rare, and I challenge you to name more than  5. There are some games that require you to buy the game and after that you need to pay each month to keep playing it! THAT IS TOTALLY BULLSHIT (for those with a sensitive heart, yes I curse in these blogs. Keep subsribed though ^^).  But back to the point. Buying the game encourages developers to keep making great games. And holding an actual game disk is way better than a digital copy.

So yeah, that's my opinion on the subject. I would like to know what you think of this, so please leave a comment below! I will write more blogs on this sort of stuff so stay tuned, and I will see you later!

Review: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

For my very first review I didn't pick my favourite movie of all time, I didn't pick the worst movie of all time ( we'll get to that one later ) and I didn't pick the best movie of all time. However, Anchorman is one of the best comedy's I have ever seen!

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy stars many top actors, such as Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate. The plot is abput news anchor Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell). He is the man. He is the head of the WKNV news team at six. Together with his reporter in the field Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner) sports and Brick Tamland (Colin Farell) weather. Their lives are pretty damn awesome. They get all the hot girls, have awesome parties and the finest suits. That is untill Veronica Corningstone ( Christina Applegate ) stepps into the picture. She wants to be a newsanchor and is the first female reporter on the news team. The guys are all trying to get rid of her, but at the same time they want to have their way with her. After a few disasterous pick up attemts, Ron finally manages to get a relationship with her. The story unfolds into a wacky plot where almost nothing makes sense, and you will laugh, a lot.

What makes this movie work is the characters. They are the manliest of men and they are also complete assholes. Especially when they try to hit on Veronica. They try everything. By far the best is Brian, who tries to impress her with his masque. He says the line, "They have done studies you know. 60% of the time, it works every time. The characters are believable and make for one of the best comedic dialouge I have seen so far.

The movie does slow down a bit and the end is a bit hasty. But it does finish up the story nicely. Although I would have loved to see a bit more of the pick up attempts on Veronica, since those are the funniest.

Overall Anchorman: The legend of Ron Burgundy ( what a mouth full) is a fantastic comedy. Give it a try! You will laugh guaranteed and it is a good time!

This movie gets Wreviews Stamp of awesomeness! ( stay tuned for the rating system!)
